View Full Version : Densen vs Naim/Linn
Music Lover 21-02-06, 03:21 AM So... is Densen good?
Is it producing musik like the UK companies?
Anybody compared them with Naim/Linn...
From Densen homepage...
Our main focus is to achieve the best possible "airguitar factor"; only when your equipment sounds so good that it makes you want to stand up and play the airguitar or become an "air-conductor" - only then have we achieved what we wanted: to create musical experiences so great that you forget everything and focus 100% on the music.
Mr_Sukebe 21-02-06, 03:59 AM The Denson system I listened to was a little Naim like, though imagine it being rounded off a little, but with more positive "round earth" attributes being added in. In other words, just another compromise, like somewhere between Meridian and Naim (IMO).
Personally I wasn't that impressed, left me a little underwhelmed, but then each to their own and I can understand why others may love them.
Yes!....My dealer was very impressed with my Pete Townsend arm failing impression, but drew the line at my Keith Moon when I kicked in the screen of his AV set-up!
Densen do’s it for me! :D
nbaptista 21-02-06, 07:52 AM Densen is all right. It is a bit more roundearth than Naim, but does Prat quite well.I´m thinking to buy a Densen B110
per flemming 21-02-06, 07:56 AM After heard the Densen,I know this is the amplifier I want!
Think twice Nuno
Steven Toy 21-02-06, 07:58 AM Densen is like Naim only you need to consider wanky wires and other un-naim stuff.
You get tune in the Linn sense, and PR&T in the Naim sense. You also higher volumes without strain, loss of dynamics or tonal integrity.
per flemming 21-02-06, 08:05 AM loss of dynamics or tonal integrity.
pretty much, hard pressed, my view too
BradNad 21-02-06, 08:51 AM Densen offer a Limetime Warranty to the original owner. Only the original owner though. This is significantly better than many UK brands, that only offer a two year warranty.
Naver had the chance to listen to any Densen gear. If the feeling is that it sounds similar to Naim but slightly more rounded, would Rega be a similar comparison?
Brad.

Brad.It might be,but Densen sound is colder. And to my ears is more refined than Rega!
It depends a bit what Densen gear you're talking about. Naim/Linn is a bit of a generalisation.
Steven Toy 21-02-06, 09:27 AM would Rega be a similar comparison?
The Densen sonic signature is more dynamic and better defined than Rega. Rega is more sweet verging on lush.

So, rounder than Naim, but colder than and not so sweet/lush as Rega. Is the bass both airy and light, or is that too much to hope for?

No,it has the lushness of Rega!
nbaptista 21-02-06, 11:15 AM Think twice Nuno
I will. Naim does Prat quite well! However the Densen B 110 is in another league compared to my Nait!
I've compared Naim and Densen rather extensively here:

Fully agree with Steven,
used to own Kairn/Klout and Kairn/Lk240s, tried Naim 82/180 for a few days, and ended up with a DM10 (integrated) that blows both away. Easily.
Tobi.
Save me hunting folks, what's the rough cost of a DM10 and where does it fit in the hierarchy of Densen Integrateds? (Are there >1 Densen integrateds?)
Dm10 was the first ever built, not in production anymore. Secondhand 800-1000 EUR. The B100 is a little newer, but less refined. Also out of production, and about 600 EUR on the market.
The current integrated modells are B110 and B150 (1600 and 3900 EUR).
nbaptista 21-02-06, 04:01 PM Is the Densen sound so refined as Naim?Naim strenghts are refinement and Prat, for me!

Here the Densen B 110 costs 1500 Euros:D
The DM10 is a lovely amp if the system and the room suit it. Topa's system looks perfect for it. Its pretty full and lush by Densen standards. Not easy to find but should cost about 500UKP.

Yes, Densen is all-right like Linn and Meridian and also round earth hifi.
I don't know if there are some flat earth forums around anymore, but do a google. You will find Naim, but athough they still make good sounding flat earth gear the forum is a disaster.
Theres a Densen B100 integrated amplifier for sale here http://www.audio-counsel.co.uk/noticeboard.php at £395 if they havent sold it already.
Hi, is Your Densen sold?
Do You shipp to Italy? Postcode: 33077 Sacile - PN

Old topic but when raised up so I ask...
How could you compare Densen/Naim/Linn/Rega against Creek? I have now Creek CD43, Creek 4330 and Epos M5i.
I think if I begin to roll hardware, I will search for second hand B200/B300 or DM20/DM30. And then change for bigger speakers. I like that electronics should be nice looking if they cost a lot. Densens are awesome looking.:)
