Hi guys,
I've bought myself a tidy amp for listening to music in my PC room, so now it's time for a tidy cable :) I've put some Van Damme speaker cable on order, so now all I need is a tidy cable from my soundcard to the amp. I found these cables here are great ICs for the money (got one from my dac to my amp in my other setup)

I'm tempted to buy another and use a Y adapter to make a 3.5mm plug on the one end for the soundcard. Is this a good idea or should I just go for a decent 3.5mm>rca cable? Any recommendations welcome :)
Thanks,
Dawson

Do an ebay search for Gotham interconnects, only £12. I have a set 3.5mmjack to rca's, they are very good for the money.

Or Flashback Sales - always well made and good value.

Thanks for the advice. Will checkout your recommendations :) These DIY IC jobs are really good value for money. I tested the canare (£19) against my Ecosse Quartet (rrp £200, but I paid a lot less 2nd hand) and there's hardly any differance between them! I might switch my "high end" cables altogether soon....

I use these (I've had two!)

They do other lengths too, good as anything!

Hi HK
Got those in my watch list :) There's also some cheap cables going by a company called Thor, they look pretty decent. Anyone heard of them?

There's change in the air - purveyors of these rip-off cables have finally been rumbled!

Slowly coming around to it hehe :) I've been interested in hifi for about 5 years, and would always dabbled in budget gear every now and then from Richer Sounds. I got into it "seriously" about 18 months ago, did some reading in the mags and forums and built the hifi I have now. I naturally took in blurb from what hifi and the like, thinking the more expensive the system the more expensive cable should be. I got an Ecosse IC / speaker cable for about a third of the RRP (luckily) from the guy I bought my speakers from.

They definitley made a differance and even at about £130 I thought I had a bargain considering the retail cost. All's happy until recently, as i've been trying out some of the ebay handmade ICs and maplin's speaker cable in my dad's system and swapping them in mine. Boy did I feel a schmuck! I'd say there's a differance there but it's more to do with tonality than quality... Certainly not enough to justify the price differance!

It's no wonder you never hear of van damme cable or these handmade ICs in the magazines, all the big companies would go out of business!

Cable simply isn't expensive stuff in reality.

Hmm just been reading about the M-Audio 2496, looks like a good soundcard - cheap 2nd hand and has rca outputs too! Might check it out. So what cables do you guys use in your systems?
