So I've changed the passphrase on my network, and need to change the passphrase on my squeezebox 2. The new passphrase is shorter than the old one, so I need to delete some characters. Turning the redundant characters into spaces doesn't work, and the only reference to a delete key I can find on their support page is to press and hold left, which just moves the cursor. I am stuck, and too stubborn to change my passphrase to a longer one. I NEED to know how the make it delete characters!
Any ideas?
Have you tried putting in blank spaces? Just a thought.

This sounds obvious but as I've thought about it I can't work it out!
Have you tried the + key? I know it sounds backwards but it deletes tracks from playlists.
If not, I'd suggest the slim devices forum, someone there must know.
Yeah, blank spaces was the first thing i tried - I get a "doesn't authenticate" message.
Pressing + just added a load more blank spaces.
I guess I'll have to try their forum.
Apparently, holding down add in non-setup menus will reset to the factory settings. I guess that's the way to go.
Well, it appears that that doesn't work if you are still stuck in the networking setup screens.
If anyone has a flash of inspiration, I'd appreciate it.

Hold down add whilst you recycle the power - that will reset to factory defaults.
Power button appears to have no effect in networking setup pages.
I gave in, hooked it up via ethernet. Turns out, once it's setup via ethernet, that asterisks out the passphrase, and entering any character clears the lot.
Now sorted, cheers.

If you press and hold the power button (or switch the mains on/off) whilst holding down the add key, you will reset the box to factory defaults. It doesn't make any difference what setup pages you're in.
Anyway, glad you're sorted!
