I happened to listen to this EVOKE-2 (http://www.pure-digital.com/Products/Product.asp?Product=VL-60657) at my dealers this morning and brought one.

It is not hi-fi but a open door to a shedload of new music - some good, some bad and some ugly. It remindes me very much of my childhood the early 60's of times spent hunting for offshore pirate radio stations with my new brand new state of the art Japanese pocket sized transistor radio. Good fun.

Bought the SO the Evoke-1 for Christmas. It's an excellent way of listening to stations one wouldn't normally hear (e.g. XFM for us northern monkeys). Trouble is, she only wants to listen to Five Live and the test cricket....

Tom,
I had the same type of problem because as soon as I had turned my back on my new toy my 79 year old father grabbed it selected SAGA radio, zipped through the stations comparing bit rates and settled down to something on Jazz FM. Within a few moments he had also nipped onto the net searching for program details and other info.

I think he owns it now so I'll get myself another new toy next week.

Money well spent.
