Hi there, forgive me if this is a Noob question,
But can I use a TeddyCap with a shiny new NAC122x? I understand its the equivalent of a HiCap, but I can`t use a HiCap with my 122x right?
I`m considering a second hand flatcap2, but would a TeddyCap give me significantly more?
I`m a little confuzzled.
Thanks,
Richard.
From the 122x product page:
"The NAC122x can be powered from the preamp power outputs of the NAP150x or NAP200 or can be upgraded by powering it from either a FlatCap 2x or Hi-Cap 2 power supply. One of the DIN inputs can supply power to a Naim Stageline outboard phono stage."
Not familiar with the TeddyCap.

You can use a TeddyCap in place of a HiCap. Better result, cheaper!

I used a Teddycap with my 112 and now my 82. Sounds different to the Hi Cap in tests I did recently with a fellow PFM er. Certainly led me to think it would be vastly better than a flatcap. I noticed a HUGE difference with the 112 though when I first bought the Teddycap and certainly think it's an excellent bit of kit.
Might be thinking about selling mine too!!!!
This place just keeps me on the upgrade path!

So it sounds like it`ll work......decisions
What i`m thinking just now is either a used flatcap2x or a new teddy-cap mk2.
The flatcap2x is born and bred for synergy with the 122x, but the teddycap is in a different ball park....but not necessarily with the same kinda synergy factor.
Demoing both is not an option (can`t travel to Israel!) and buying both to try is not really feasible either.
Any input here guys?
Thanks,
Richard

I have a recent Hicap2, an olive Hicap with new Kendeil caps (the major element in servicing done last month) and a very recent Teedycap2 (DEc 2008). They have been rotated around the system powering eitther the 72 preamp, the 202 preamp, the stageline or the prefix.
There are differences but they are minute compared to the diffences in pricing.
To be brief, knowing what I have heard, if visual matching is not a major issue, I would go for the brand new Teddycap2 in your situation. It is definitely better than a Hicap needing new caps and as good as my Hicaps in their present state. I recently used it and the Hicap2 when evaluating various board options on my 72 and it was definitely up to the job of revealing the various differences.
Oh and it is surprisingly small and easy to tuck away.

Teddycap is vastly better than a flatcap2 unless you have something else to power with the flatcap2. Ofcourse if you have another naim unit to power you could use a Dual Teddycap.
