The ali dome was replaced by a silk dome.

Went from hard and bright to just bright. They sound better with a 'mellow' system.

thanks chaps, i was aware it went to a silk from ali: now can you hazard a guess as to whether its the same actual tweeter unit, bar the dome section? or what specifically are the model no's..

also are the bass drivers definitely the same/ no change from I to II?

Ruark used Seas drivers for both.

Seas made quite a number of 25mm domes, hard to tell apart from the front. Some are chambered, some not.

I find the Seas ali domes quite palletable, wouldn't dismiss them without a good listen.

no its pretty good, detail etc & not as sharp as some.. but 'hard' is a good description nonetheless.

idea is if i can buy a mkII type voicecoil section & fit in place of the ali mkI's- if the tweeter body is the same that is (plausible, from a manufacturing pov common sense tells me). i did this before on a vifa to upgrade the tweeter you see.

what would be ideal is the no's on a tali II's unit of course.

That tweeter is a non-ferrofluid, chambered type with a low Fs of 660 hz. It should sound pretty good. My Aurora's use the 25TAF/G, similar but ferro/non-chambered, and they are one of the better ali domes I've heard.

Some people pull off the faceplates and change the damping on the pole piece.

The closest fabric dome to that was the 25TFFC, and the Tali III uses the 27TDC, which I have a pair of.

ah getting nearer the answer, ie what specifically is the HF in the tali II.. I think its diffwerent to the mk III, frustratingly, although looking at the tecchy no's only the 27 you have is at 91db and mine 90db, only other difference is resonant fq 660 to 550. but as you know Im buggered if i undertsand that.

would you be willing to FS those tweets RustyB- if they were to suit that is..

what i need is the no's from side of a talisman II tweeter- but how the dickens Im gonna source that info..
