Heard today that he died last weekend.
He was one of my all time greatest musicians around,
sad to see him go.
Still, awaiting release of "The Wind" here in Germany.
RIP

The Wind is a must-have. It is his most solid album. The only disappointment is that Linda Ronstadt doesn't appear on the record. Apparently she is so serious about leaving the music business that she wouldn't play on the record.

Bummer! Too young to die, yet he was not too old to rock an roll.
Best I head upstairs and play a disc. :(

It's a real pity - we seem to be losing a lot of interesting and worthwhile musicians at the moment. I've read all about Zevon, but would you believe that I have never actually heard any of his stuff - perhaps now is a good time to ask for recommendations of where to start?
I used to wonder about this guy whose albums and cds used to keep Uncle Frank company up there in the lonely echelons of the 'Z' section at the various record emporia that I haunted. Perhaps had it not been for my passion for all things Frank, I might never have noticed his companion...
Anyway, sorry to hear this news...

I suggest you start with his older stuff and work your way
through.
His first release "Wanted Dead or Alive" is very hard to find, so probably get yourself a decent copy of his second album "Warren Zevon", produced by Jackson Browne (1976).
On the other hand, to get an overview, the best start would
be his live album "Learning to Flinch" - so to say a "Best of ..." -
recorded during his solo tour 1993.
Try and have fun, he really was a weird genius!
Cheers,
