Did anyone listening to Late Junction catch whether the concert of Dhafer Youssef with Arve Henriksen et al performing @ the London jazz festival November 18th 2004 will be broadcast in its entirety? I was a bit too blissed out to hear the continuity speaker properly.

Shit. I always forget late junction. I really like Arve Henriksen, the new Food cd (Last Supper) is wonderful!

Late Junction (and 8 hours of live music broadcasts on Radio 3 in the day) is why I always have a decent FM tuna...

I e-mailed Late Junction there and then and got a reply back almost immediately:

From fiona.talkington@bbc.co.uk Mon Dec 6 23:09:54 2004
Yes. But split. Most of it tonight. Another (long) track on Wednesday
and then I've left 2 last tracks for Verity but I'm not sure when she's
planning to use them.

Fiona

Listen out for the long track tonight if you can. If its like the shorter tracks played last night they will be absolute blinders. Good recordings also. Last Supper is I agree totally ace. What struck me was the purity of his voice...

Cheers Fox, I'll be there Wednesday.

If you like Food, you need Supersilent as well, but you probably knew that already.

Nope. I'll check it out.... Cheers for the heads up. In a similar vein I'm playing Nils Petter Mølvaer's "Remixed" LP as early morning wake up music... On a triple vinyl set... Time to wake up and smell the coffee!

laters...

Check the Rune Grammofon (http://www.runegrammofon.com) web-site for more on Supersilent, Food, Arve Henriksen etc. An incredible label!

This looks like where I will be spending my bonus. Thanks! Yikes that's a great label!

Also a plug for Late Junction at 10:15 tonight for a live broadcast of Dhafer Youssef with Arve Henriksen etc live at the London jazz festival. If anyone gets a chance to record it I'd really love a copy (I have some blinding John Zorn/Massada Live recorded from BBC Radio 3 to exchange if anyone is interested)...

I'll be recording it. PM me your address and I'll stick a CD in the post.

Are we still talking R3? All I can find is the prog at 23.00hrs with no mention of above.

Thanks

Yes, it's just an hour tonight. If you look at the email above from Fiona Talks-posh, it seems tonight she'll be playing a long track from the concert.

It is a filler...commproddi.

Fiona and 'er mate Verity will survive the cull - progs not prols; don't you know.

Balanced I might be but I DO HATE THE MIDDLE CLASS when i'm drunk.

Now.... which two of the four phonos existing the DIN [ Meridian 100 series] will work? Is that a problem? Yes, but I have 30ish minutes starting from now.

Goodnight, and thank your mother for the rabbit.

I've remembered to record it, although I seem to have spent the last hour listening to Band of Susans records instead.

I prefer Verity to Fiona meself. But I suppose that's predictable.

Is as tedious as ever. The rest....did like the augmented birdsong at the end. The bit inbetween had its moments but not memorable[sic].

Verity - sounds like an awfully good fuck.

I emailed Verity - she is seriously pissed that you think she might not be a good fuck." Careful what he do wid his smilies" was her exact reply.

Good job you are most of the way to Australia - methinks an oral vasectomy was on her mind!!
