DIY Guitar valve amps?

Has anyone made a valve guitar amp? I'm after a starter design, no fancy send/return or tremelo circuits that will overdrive.
There was a company selling kits, but they seem to have suspended trading at the moment. There are loads of schematics out there and I don't know where to start.
I really want a low wattage (18w?) design, preferably EL34 based (as I have some spares) that can be built using turrents. Soundwise, I'm probably after the Marshall type sound. The VOX AC30 would be nice to try, but the original schematic looks pretty complex.

I built the 5watt head, he also does an 18 watt.If you want it just for the house then 5 watts is plenty, its bloody loud. The guy has been ill for sometime but is about to start selling the kits again. The build instructions can be downloaded from the Ampmaker site and are pretty easy to follow.

Glad to see he is back, that's the site I'd been considering to buy a kit from.
Cheers

Chris - those ampmaker kits are superb value - you couldn't do it for less if you sourced stuff yourself (as long as he's similarly priced to what he was before).

Im in the opposite camp, ie a fender fan & made a few now. The 5e3 is a 15w 2x 6v6 (Neil Young sound ie when turned up they distort- beautifully).

Basic layout here and many kits like Mission Amps (US) and TAD (EU) for eg.

That some good attenuation ideas going on there muzzer/ v good design. In the US there are heaps of Fender type kit makers- over here, barely one- and even forums practically dedicated to individual fender (usually 50s) designs like the 5E3.

I use my 5w Princeton 5F2-A (scratch built single ended 6v6) with a diy Rat overdrive mainly- very sweet indeed as 15w is way too loud for me.
