Rock pop & jazz vinyl

Be My Weapon - Greasy!! This is a new release from ex-Swell members on pfm member richgilb's Mollusc label. Some details and links in the pfm music room here.It is pressed on a lovely transparent splatter vinyl, brand new £12.00 (initial stock 5: 1 copies available).

The Beatles - A Collection Of Beatles Oldies. 1971 reissue on silver/black Parlophone with two EMI logos, front-laminated sleeve and -1G matrixes. A VG+/EX, cover marked down due to a little shelf-wear/grubbiness to rear but still very decent, vinyl is nice and tidy £15.00.

Harry Belafonte - The Many Moods Of... 1962 UK deep-groove Decca-pressed RCA 'silver spot' Living Stereo. Grades at a respectable VG++/VG+, just a little ageing to the laminated flip-back sleeve and a couple of very superficial marks to the vinyl £8.50.

The Bothy Band - Old Hag You Have Killed Me. Scarce 1976 folk album on Polydor, EX/EX £12.50.

Bread - Lost Without Your Love, gf, lovely German 'butterfly' Elektra original £7.50.

The Christians – Colour. Lovely fully signed UK 1st issue with inner and art print. All six signatures from the extended line-up clear and neat in biro on front sleeve. Grades at a very strong EX to NM throughout, a superb collectors item £25.00.

Collage - Get In Tough With Me / Love Is For Everyone. One sided metal acetate. Well worth having out of curiosity if you have no metal acetates, they sound great as this is the wax coated disk that is cut and from which all vinyl is created from, i.e. one whole process removed from the final product. They wear fairly fast but sound great! EX in Tape 1 mastering house sleeve £6.50.

Judy Collins - Judith. Nice 1975 UK 'butterfly' Elektra 1st press with A1/B1 matrixes and gatefold sleeve, EX/EX £10.00.

*Crosby Stills Nash Young - So Far. UK 1st pressing with embossed matt sleeve and A1/B1 'Porky' matrixes, the Joni Mitchell designed sleeve is sadly rather stained and discoloured especially down the spine edge, so a VG+ there, but the vinyl is a nice strong EX. Clean ones tend to make quite a bit these days, so £10.00 has to be fair given a less than EX (but still presentable) cover.

The Danny Boys - Days Of The Week. Rare 1987 3 track 12" indie pop on Manchester's Ugly Man records, very collectable C86-type stuff, EX/EX aside from very small top-seam split £7.50.

*Miles Davis - Sketches Of Spain. Nice mid-'70s 'gradient' label CBS with front-laminated sleeve EX/EX, a good honest fully analogue copy £12.50.

Wilbur De Paris And His New New Orleans Jazz - Over And Over Again. Nice US Atlantic stereo original of nice energetic New Orleans stuff. It grades at EX/EX and has a small deletion cut top left £10.00.

Doll By Doll - Doll By Doll. 1981 album on Magnet featuring Jackie Leven, nice A2/B2 original on a red Magnet label with printed inner. A little light shelf wear to the sleeve so I'll knock that down to VG++, vinyl EX £10.00.

The Duncan Sisters - The Duncan Sisters. Scarce disco/rare groove on Casablanca/Earmarc from 1979, good funky stuff with some interesting guitar, lovely promo-stamped copy in very strong EX/EX condition £10.00.

Emerson Lake & Palmer - Pictures At An Exhibition. UK Island first pressing with A1/B1 matrix. The gatefold cover is in a really nice strong EX condition, the vinyl has some marks that imply it has been badly handled rather than misused, e.g. I think someone dropped the cart and it skated across the surface leaving a very thin light hairline and a couple more from sleeve removal. The labels are clean with no spindle marking (indicating low use) and it sounds very decent, the odd crackle and pop in the quiet bits, but not distorted at all, so I’ll grade it as a VG++, it is hard to find this pressing in this condition let alone mint £8.50.

FM UK - Indiscreet. US deletion cut copy signed by band, three sigs in silver on the front, one in black on the rear, inner VG++/EX £10.

The Goons - The Best Of The Goon Shows. UK gold/black Parlophone mono original with laminated flip-back sleeve. A couple of light marks and a little discolouration to rear sleeve so say a nice VG++/VG++ and nicer than most one sees. £10.00.

Lionel Hampton - All That Twist'n Jazz. Rather odd and interesting late-50s early-60s fusion of jazz with rock 'n' roll , not the typical Lionel Hampton album! This is a lovely deep-groove stereo original on Glad records and grades at EX/EX £12.50.

The Hardy Boys - Wheels. 1970 film/book spin-off curio, this appears to be a factory sealed new old stock US RCA Dynagroove original (maybe first) pressing, has very small deletion cutout £8.50.

The George Hatcher Band – Dry Run, very seldom seen 1976 UA original with laminated gatefold sleeve, couple of very light sleeve-removal / handling hairlines, but still real nice, say NM/VG+, kind of pub-rocky £7.50.

Art Hodes - The Funky Piano of… Blue Note compilation from the Liberty period, so late ’60s-early 70s pressing I guess, gatefold sleeve and a US pressing. EX/EX £10.00.

Jale - Dreamcake. 1994 riot-girl / grungy stuff on Sub Pop, this is the limited edition first press on yellow vinyl and is in NM/NM condition £12.50.

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Nice early UK DJM original with tri-fold sleeve and Pye-pressed vinyl which glows red when held to a bright light (as most Pye pressings do). Matrixes are A4/B4/C3/D2. It grades at EX/EX with just a hint of spine-wear and just the odd sign of having sat in paper inners for a very long time. I’ve given it a scrub and popped it into some fresh poly inners £15.00.

John Keating - Space Experience. 1972 EMI Studio 2 Stereo hi-fi stunt album featuring the EMS VCS3 synth amongst other things, a collectable slab of ‘70s Space Age Bachelor Pad, lovely EX/EX copy £12.00.

Dr Kinchev & Co - “Alice” Group. Odd 1985 Russian rock/indie stuff on Melodiya, EX/EX, not something one sees often at all. Much of the cover is in Russian so it might be something else! got to be worth £6.50 just on the WTF? scale.

Lyle Lovett - Pontiac. 1987 on curb, UK copy with A1/B1 matrix, EX/EX aside from slight scuff on run-out of one side £10.00.

Luxuria - Lifelines 1990. Interview / career retrospective on Beggars Banquet featuring Howard Devoto & Noko, includes Buzzcocks, Magazine etc. A rare item in EX/EX condition £15.00.

Magazine - Play. Nice 1980 Virgin original, grades at a real nice EX/EX aside from a very light patch of damp residue on sleeve rear £12.50.

The Magnetic Fields – I Thought You Were My Boyfriend: Remixes By Rob Rives. Ultra scarce promo only 12” on Nonesuch featuring 2 housed-up mixes of Stephen Merritt’s Americana classic. Such a bizarre idea that it probably works! £4.50.

Magnum - Wings Of Heaven. Cover signed by three members. Vinyl has a mark at end of track one but it plays through with just a couple of pops, say VG++/VG++ (slight top seam split) £8.50.

The Nice - Elegy. UK ‘pink scroll’ Charisma original issue with A1/B1 matrixes. The cover unfortunately has a sticker-tear top right quite narrow of about 1.5cm in length, aside from that an EX, the vinyl is also an EX £12.50.

John Otway - Where Did I Go Right. Lovely 1979 Polydor UK 1st pressing with heavy gloss laminated sleeve and A1/B1 matrix, a lovely strong EX/EX to NM condition, a really good copy of a nice quirky new-wave album £12.50.

Peter, Paul & Mary - Album 1700. Lovely US stereo original on a solid green Warners label with paper-on-board sleeve and printed inner. Condition is a very tidy EX/EX throughout, a really nice example of this vintage US folk album £15.00.

Peter, Paul & Mary - In Concert Vol. 1. Lovely gold label WB mono UK 1st pressing with laminated flip—back sleeve and -1 matrixes. Grades at EX/EX aside from what looks like a minor pressing fault track one side two which plays fine but crackles a bit. Despite this issue it’s a lovely copy of a hard to find first pressing £10.00.

Planxty - Cold Blow And The Rainy Night. 1979 Canadian Shanachie reissue of classic and collectable folk album. A lovely copy, near mint throughout aside from a record label mispress on one side where there is a slight tear, obviously there from new and of no consequence £8.50.

Planxty - The Woman I Loved So Well. 1980 Irish fold release on Tara Records, scarce and a lovely strong EX/EX copy £8.50.

Polly Paulusma - Leaves From The Family Tree. Current folk beautifully pressed on 180g vinyl by Diverse Vinyl, brand new, still sealed £17.50.

Poppy & The Jezebels - Follow Me Down. 2007 release from indie / goth girl band, this is the numbered limited edition with fully signed insert and is in M/M condition £12.00.

Elvis Presley - Elvis On Stage/That's The Way It Is. Consider this a mystery item as I haven't the faintest clue what it is. It is a double album from I would guess China or South Korea, I'm working on the assumption it is official, but I can't guarantee that. I can't find it on Discogs. It is on 'First Records' and looks to be pretty old. The sleeve design is most odd in that it is printed paper enclosed in polythene and is a gatefold. It grades at VG+/VG++ and may be worth anything from 75p to One Million Pounds, yours for £8.50.

Dory Previn - Reflections In A Mud Puddle. Lovely 1971 UK United Artists 1st pressing with laminated gatefold sleeve, A1/B1 matrixes and complete with the rare poster very early copies had. This really is an immaculate copy, NM throughout and almost impossible to find in this shape £35.00.

John Prine - John Prine. Lovely UK Atlantic first pressing with A1/B1 matrix. Grades at EX/EX aside from a tiny mark to label where a sticker has been removed (almost certainly a Pixall ‘P’ sticker!) £15.00.

Suzi Quatro - Your Mamma Won’t Like Me, 1975 album on RAK in surprisingly good condition, vinyl is a nice strong EX with just a little light ageing and shelf-wear knocking the fragile textured cover down to VG+ £10.00.

Renaissance - Azure D’Or, inner EX/EX condition £8.50.

The Rezillos - Mission Accomplished But The Beat Goes On. 1979 UK Sire label 1st pressing with inner and A1/B1 matrix, VG++/EX (very slight corner ding and the faintest hint of label removal to cover, vinyl is lovely) £17.50.

Cliff Richard & The Shadows - The Young Ones. Immaculate UK blue-silver stereo Columbia SCX 3397 with -1 matrixes and laminated flip-back sleeve. It is extraordinary rare to find a copy of this pressing in this lovely strong EX/EX condition. Really nothing to mark it down, it is a stunner and sounds great too. £35.00.

Lee Ritenour – Portrait, 1987 GRP release from renowned jazz guitarist, NOS US original, still sealed, very small deletion cut £8.50.

Keith Roberts – Pier Of The Realm. Rare 1972 Northern English folk album on York’s independent Trailer label, grades at VG+ (slight sticker mark, general ageing) / EX £10.00.

Royal Forest - Spillway. Vinyl release on Richard Gilbert (pfm member richgilb)'s Mollusc Records label. This is fresh sounding indie from Austin Texas with a psychedelic leaning, recorded by the band themselves (analogue) with mastering done at Abbey Road. You can have a listen to the album here on the label's SoundCloud stream or on Spotify. £12.00.

Sad Café - Facades. 1979 UK orange label RCA 1st pressing on blue vinyl and in EX/EX condition £10.00.

Shure - Era IV An Audio Obstacle Course. Nice EX/NM condition of one of the most extreme test records, the arm resonance test has some of the fiercest modulation I’ve ever seen cut to vinyl! I’ve not tried tried this one as a DL-103 in a 3009 stands close to no chance! £12.50.

Cat Stevens - Foreigner. Lovely UK Island original with embossed sleeve, heavy card insert and the almost always missing postcard, it grades at a nice EX/EX aside from the slightest age-yellowing on the spine-side of the matt white sleeve £15.00.

The Sweet - The Sweet's Biggest Hits. Scarce 1972 album that actually pre-dates most of their hits! This is a lovely German-pressed orange label RCA Victor with fully laminated sleeve and is in a very nice strong EX/EX, very rare in this condition £10.00.

Therapy - Bringing The House Down. 1975 own-label private pressing UK folk album fully signed by both members and in lovely strong EX/EX condition. Has inner sleeve with sticker advertising their next album, a lovely copy £20.00.

Jacques Thollot - Cliq Hops. Very scarce 1978 jazz on French Free Bird label, EX/EX £15.00.

*Tyrannosaurus Rex - Unicorn. US Blue Thumb issue with gatefold sleeve. This is the 1972 issue BTS7 and is in a presentable VG+/VG+ condition, the sleeve has a top seam split and a small corner deletion cut along with some ageing and general wear, but still looks very decent, it is of the heavy paper on board type, the vinyl has a couple of light hairlines but is very decent, I'll give it a good scrub before sending it on its way. Any pre-'77 T. Rex album in good playable condition is a very rare thing, and this is one of the rarer titles £12.50.

Vonbrigdi - Kakofonia. Ultra rare and collectable 1983 Icelandic new-wave album on Shout Records with insert. This is a lovely strong EX/EX copy, it's a pleasing racket for sure. £12.50.

The Bob Wilbur Quintet / Septet - Spreading The Joy: The Music Of Sidney Bechet. 1960 US mono original on Classic Editions label in a very heavy 'Impulse style' gatefold sleeve, it's in a respectable VG+/VG+ condition (sounds much better) and is a rather nice item £8.50.

Zoogz Rift – Water II. SST Records white label test pressing with photocopied track listing. A very rare item indeed in strong VG++ condition, supplied in stock white die-cut sleeve £10.00.

Various Artists

4 From The Madding Crowd. Rare 1986 album featuring two or three tracks a piece from The Royal Family And The Poor, Bushido, Intimate Obsessions, and Ohama Meets Dania. It’s on Third Mind Records, which I assume is a private pressing, and is in EX/EX condition £7.50.

The Golden Age Of Ragtime: album of piano-rolls (Scot Joplin etc), original Riverside label issue from the early ‘60s, small sticker to rear that I’ll leave as it will leave a mark and a small price (in shillings) but other than that a lovely copy £7.50.

Musical Art Of The Peoples Of The USSR – Folk Music Of Estonia, 2xLP, gf. A most serious looking mono artefact on the Melodiya label, no details of individual artists, it appears more a document of styles and concepts, certainly a record with musicology leanings, not some lightweight tourist artefact, EX/EX aside from a little light ageing to fragile matt-white sleeve £10.00.
