Hi

Anyone who have heard these speakers?

well, its name has Naim in it, so it must be good. Work close to a wall.

Kibri is a Danish hifi manufacturer - they deal mostly in speakers, but they also do a pre amp AFAIK. I have heard Naima's little brother, Caelum, at a hifi show in Copenhagen - and I thought they made some of the most interesting sounds at this particular show, playing music fed by NAS Space Deck/some pre amp/Exposure 18 IIRC. Check the web site http://www.kibri.dk/ if further interested.

Name that tuna

The Danish do have awkward ways of translating - shouldn't the brand's name be spelled as SHØHINIÅN?
Very nice looking speakers, though!
The smaller speaker with the top-firing unit shown on the website looks like NVA's cube loudspeaker from some years ago.

Hi all...

ohconfucius - "work close to a wall" - how do you know that, cause of the pictures?

Thom PC - thanks for the info. I think Naima are a replacement for Caelum, wich are discontinued. How would you discripe the sound of Caelum?

RJohan - yes, a quick look at Google confirms this....

magentawhale - they look a lot like Shahinians, but with a lot of personality i think.

Are they avalible in UK? - Still no distributor on the webpage...

Oh!
I looked up the name "Naima" - it´s origin arabic for "princess" (or something like that....).

Maybe Mr. Hector will comment his test in hifi+ ?

Mr Hector has already reviewed them in hi-fi plus I seem to remember. Quite positive and not fussy about walls if I´m not mistaken.

Hi Chris...

Yeah, thats right. But it would be nice with some more comments.
For the price it should be excellent - more music than hifi.

The estimated price was to be 1350 quid then. Seems quite cheap in comparison with others (Shahinians, Heeds etc.)

Briza,

you're absolutely right - I think the speakers look very nice indeed, and finish seems to be of a high standard. I'd like to hear them on a demo, but it looks like the dealer network hasn't extended beyond the Danish borders, yet.

just saw the site. the products look interesting. nice stuff coming out of Dk these days!

Such simple crossovers - I wonder how come speaker sensitivity is only 88db?

Most speaker manufactures claims too high sensitivity-figures. They seldom seems to match real life measurements. Maybe the 88dB is correct (I don't find it too be on the low side!?), but whats more interesting, like Mr. Hector finds, they are not hard to drive, but like some control in terms of current. This should make them sing with Naim, old Exposure, Dynavector etc.
Thom PC heard them at an exhibition - driven by an Exposure amp. Surely not a coincidence...
I find, that simple crossovers are superior, if you have control over it (and the design too match - speaker units etc.). However, there are a price to pay, and the rise in impedance with frequence, can be one of them. But this should not be a problem with a well engineered amp.
