  2. Where we are now: The site is back up and running! The character set encoding issue has been fixed so old posts should now look ok. I am currently working on themes/skins etc and I will be deleting the temporary green skin very soon as it has many issues. I will do a very quick variation on the stock blue skin first just to get a light-grey background and san-serif font, and I will set this as default. Later this week I will hopefully add a professional third-party skin in pfm colours (life is way too short to do this crap myself, and I've found one I really like than needs next to no tweaking). We are getting there slowly...

  3. May I please request people check and update their email address if it is out if date. I ask as I’m getting countless bounce errors as the server fails to send notifications through etc. I’ll eventually figure out how to send these to a black hole somewhere, but it makes sense to address it at source as quite a few folk are obviously not getting the thread and conversations notifications they have set in their preferences.

  4. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

It's looking better and better, Tony.
This layout in general (nothing to do with the latest colour scheme) takes up much more space than the old vBulletin, mainly because of the box on the left. with the current size of the avatar and all the user info below that the amount of space taken up by even a one-line answer is about 10 lines' worth. Is there any way things could be tightened up a bit to have less blank space under most posts?

Pretty happy with how it is and we all need to adjust to changes anyway!

...XenForo node icons, I now know where you live and your days are numbered! I’ve flattened them to monochrome so they don’t clash any more. I now need to find a decent graphics app to make some myself from scratch to get the look I really want. I had Pixelmator, but it is just irritatingly bad, so I’ve just deleted it rather swear at its stupidity any longer...

the avatar is what i driving the height. the only way to reduce the vertical space you don't like is to scale it down to a tiny size or get rid of it. as i posted earlier, you have the ability to customize this yourself.

Looking good overall, I accept things have to change... cant stay with the old forever..

but..not a fan of avatars on every post...distracting and even 1 or 2 word posts now are sizable and require extra scrolling.

I have a feeling we are probably stuck with them as they are such an integral component in how the forum works, but over time as I better learn the controls and knock the place into shape I will try to reduce their impact a bit.

To be honest I’m hoping the inclusion of the ‘Like’ button stops the ‘quote whole post and type “agreed!”’ thing which wasted a lot of screen acreage previously. Time will tell, and as ever I try to keep things pretty fluid and tweek as issues occur. Whilst this skin is far better than it eas and I much prefer it to the XenForo default it is still far from finished. There are many, many elements that irritate me still, some I’m sure I can hit with more time and knowledge. Not many will remember, but the old vBulletin site took me a long while and many, many iterations to get where it was when we left it. I’m only four days in on this so far, albeit four days pretty continuous and without much sleep, and a lot of that was spent trying to get the core data right too (encoding errors etc).

To my mind it is currently working and doesn’t look too bad even if it is obviously unfinished. I hope those who were having issues reading are happier now, though I can try different fonts etc easily enough. We’ll get there.

Looking good from here on my tablet, and is good on a phone as well (which is so much better than vBulletin was) - thanks for your hard work in making it nice for the rest of us.

It is gradually getting better and better, easier to read/see. Some things are still a bit dim/transparent, like the page numbers for the threads, and I still have to work out the difference between "Quote" and "Reply", but that's my problem. But on the whole for me, after so many years of the old style, it is now, after only a few days, almost as familiar and almost as intuitive and fast. Well done, Tony!

Press reply below another post to quote just that post.

Press +Quote on whatever posts you want to add to the multi quote list, then press more options, then press insert quotes, and those quotes appear, ready for you to quote them.

I would find the thread titles easier to read if the font colour was black.

I see Max is back with the Hillary book!!

You still like Trump Max; if so jump on the appropriate thread!

Tony, the new site looks and works great from what I have experienced so far, was a little surprised to get an alert regarding a recent post on the Trump thread, is this a thing?
