1. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

Terrible news. Both Lescon & Meridian were responsible for much forward-looking audio that can now be viewed as true classics. RIP.

PS I’ve edited/moved the thread and added link citation to the OP.

    linnfomaniac83 I bet you can’t wheelie a unicycle!

Indeed, although I’m Linnfomaniac, I’ve always had a bit of a thing for Meridian (Boothroyd) design and still have some Meridian stuff because I love the Aesthetics alone.

He was also responsible for the exterior design of the BBC micro!

    RIP Mr Boothroyd.

Very sad. Met Bob Stuart on number of occasions, but never Mr Boothroyd.

Owned a fair bit of Meridian kit in my time, but my favourites - in terms of both performance and aesthetics – remain the 101/105 and the M1 loudspeakers. Owned both of those twice in fact.

Excellent short video from a few years back which I've flagged several times to clients as among the best of its type:

RIP. Much beautiful industrial design from his pen. Meridian were way ahead of their time.

RIP Allen and thank you for some wonderful designs and products.
A Meridian user for many years and the wonderful 802.2 cd player stands proudly in my system.

    Well that was unexpected. RIP.
No mention of it on Meridians web site though...

Sad news. I used to have a 200/203 CD player - in fact I still have the transport. My M2s remain my main speakers.

Such a shame but a wealth of legacy remains. My car has a Meridian system.

Ah no, this is so sad, a pillar of the audio world.

I'll cherish my meridian system even more.

    God bless. R.I.P

Classic design and layout that BBC Micro. The keys felt beautiful to use too.

    No, surprising that.

We have a stack of Meridian in the house, from 100 series that we used to drive our first pair of Briks, through 200 series into M2/M20/M3 active speakers, right up to a full DSP5000 5.1 system; indeed my “new” 568.2mm surround processor arrived as recently as Friday.

    Very sad news.
I was always a fan of Meridian equipment especially the Active Loudspeakers. The M1's were a revelation to me when I heard and bought a pair over 40 years ago. Far much more advanced and better sounding than just about anything else available at the time. I then moved to a pair of M10's that I kept for over 35 years till November of last year before finally changing. Virtually trouble free throughout that time and still working perfectly when I moved them on.
    RIP Allen.

I've owned a few Meridian products in the past. A brilliant company! Always helpful and would assist you in any way they could.
    Very sad news indeed!

My 101/103D was an excellent amplifier.
A friend ( a prof. audio engineer) still has his active M3 speakers.
