1. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

Amp and tuner look like Technics SU7700 (amp) and ST7300 (tuner). Mid-range units from (I think) second generation Technics kit, so mid-late 70s. Decent enough in its day.

If you have a look on eBay there are currently examples of each. The Fons and in particular the SME are probably worth a few bob, perhaps better priced/sold as separate items, but there are others who'll have more insight than me on that one, especially as to pricing.

The Stax I wouldn't have a clue, but they'll be worth a few quid to the right buyer/collector as well.

The Fons £100, SME £300+, oddly together they'd probably fetch £250 on ebay. Split them and get suitable packaging for the SME. Collect only will limit values.

Indeed, a nice vintage rig. I’d expect it to have some speakers too!

Yes, it's a bit odd that there are no speakers lurking somewhere - Goodmans, say, or early Missions. The Fons is a good deck - an ex-GF had one, twenty years ago, and it always impressed me.

Apparently there is also a pair of ‘custom-made’ speakers.

Looks like £150 is roughly the going rate for both the STAX ear-speakers and energiser.

I’m surprised the FONS isn’t more valuable.

You would have to pay a fair sum to get better headphones new I suppose?

I’d have thought so. I wonder if the panels last / are still serviceable?

I'd suggest keeping the Stax if they work ok. As mentioned above, you have a quality set of headphones that may struggle to reach a price that matches their musical quality worth.
