1. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

All performances at the Metropolitan Opera are cancelled until the end of the month, including the Saturday Matinees - this corona thing is really beginning to bite now.

I didn't book tickets for any other concerts this season other than Shostakovich 5 in January and Das Lied at the start of March and the way things are going, a lot of big events still to come, like the Met opera, will be postponed or canceled entirely. As you say, this corona things is really starting to bite.

Edinburgh International Festival bookings postponed 'till further notice. Same with Edinburgh Capital Theatres. Oh well...

And who knows, the last Last night of the Proms might turn out to be the last Last Night of the Proms for some time - heck, the First Night of the Proms might be well the first night of the Proms to be canned!

Sorry to say it, but in fairness the disruption to the Arts including music is something that we must expect.

The Arts have always been a risky career for so many reasons. Others workers are going to have to carry on without regard for their personal safety being a cause for stopping. Shop workers selling food, the Emergency services, those who man the utilities and so on. But where this no compelling necessity for "luxury" activities that never the less put people at risk; then curtailment is absolutely necessary.

    Best wishes from George

Thoroughly enjoyed the free stream of Carmen.
    It’s another one tomorrow.
