1. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

I have the Ian Carr biog, but I'm looking for something that gives a bit more insight/coverage of the 70s music. Carr seems a bit sniffy about the music from this period. There are books by Phil Freeman and Paul Tingen which cover Miles' "electric" period, from a more sympathetic point-of-view. Can anyone recommend these books, or any others.

if you don't have the autobiography, that's an obvious starting point.

So What: The life of Miles Davis by John Szwed.

I much preferred it to Carr's biog.

The bit about the snow landing in his convertible had me in stitches.

    Will investigate the Szwed book.

Not too sure about the autbiography; the extracts I've read seem a bit self-serving. I'll pick up a copy next time I feel the need to hone my Oedipal cussing.
