1. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

I love where that Silk 86 track takes me. Everything works in it, the way it goes loose in the middle, the breakdowns and the way the voice is worked. Fantastic tune, thank you.

Only trouble is I can't find a copy other than on the continent through Discogs. Any links to a stock item?

One for the wishlist then. May still end up going through Discogs. I got one today from Germany that's been in the post for almost a month due to a DHL strike, and just two hours ago I was thinking I'll not bother with that route again. Now perhaps I think otherwise :)

    Hey Jag
Nice to see the thread has revived. Wasn't really sure if it amounted to a self indulgent activity on my part. Apart from you and Nick it didn't seem to be going anywhere so I hoped it would pick up again if I left it alone for a bit. When I hear a new piece of music that excites me I can't help but share it. Been doing it all my life and I enjoy it hugely. What use is good music without an audience? I also hugely appreciate the input all the thread's contributors make. It broadens my all be it narrowly focused world, and I learn and absorb. On the up side there have been plenty of people looking per post so I hope it is of use to some people.

I have stuff to post but have been holding off a while. It is difficult to post them at the moment as I've had to fly to Croatia to try and repatriate my father who has had a stroke. Pretty desperate really but this thread isn't the place.

Check out the Kai Alce releases on NDATL. The Fingers mix of 'Take a Chance', full acid instrumental is sublime as is 'I can feel it...now'.

Will post some stuff on my/our return but for the meantime been reading 'Last Night A DJ Saved My Life' by Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton. It's a well researched read and recommended.

I can swap you the Dan Shake & Medlar track for the Silk 86 one if you like. No pressure.

Good luck in your new home. I hope it's a happy one for you.

Always good to hear from you mate, and I'm glad we've kept the thread alive too. I hope others appreciate it, but honestly, if it's just us and Nick who are reading the thread, who cares, there are some cracking tracks in here, and now books, which I'm about to order ; )

Wishing you the best of luck with helping your father's situation.

Try to get the updated version. One bit that fascinated me was about David Mancuso at the Loft and his obsession with sound quality and wanting to hear the music not the sound system.
"The one thing the loft did do was set a standard: getting your money's worth, providing a decent sound system...Klippschorn speakers...JBL bullet tweeter arrays and later, Koetsu hand-crafted cartridges and Mitchell Cotter turntable bases. "
Koetsu's! Sounds like a system Tony would enjoy with the Klippschorns.
Maybe he could start the next Loft :)
Thanks for the good wishes and encouragement.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Best of luck from me too.

A few that I've been liking on Soundcloud:

https://soundcloud.com/faune-2/untitled-xiii-the-summit-edit - Faune - Untitled XIII (The Summit Edit) - it's house but has that depth, hiss & crackle of dub techno too

https://soundcloud.com/laminfofana/lampedusa - Lamin Fofana - Lampedusa - more techno but should appeal to house-heads. A Drexciya-esque concept behind this track and the EP it's taken from which is a hot topic at the moment

https://soundcloud.com/laminfofana/lampedusa - Dayme Arocena - Don't Unplug My Body (Atjazz Astro Dub)

https://soundcloud.com/the-ransom-note/awitw-evening-sky-acid-washed-remix-night-noise-music AWITW - Evening Sky (Acid Washed Remix) - something about this reminds me of Italo disco and Pet Shop Boys

    https://soundcloud.com/mmmmmmmmmmmmimmmmmmmmmm/ylang-ylang-jam - M/M - Ylang Ylang (Jam)

https://soundcloud.com/amateurbest/amateur-best-marzipan-ray-mang-remix - Amateur Best - Marzipan (Ray Mang Remix)

https://soundcloud.com/the-ransom-note/premiere-hannah-holland-body-bold-ft-mama - Hannah Holland - Body Bold ft. Mama

https://soundcloud.com/ey-z-1/tea-1 - Untitled - Tea - apparently this is by a guy from Spain called Ignasi Garcia. Too short IMO as it's a really quite gorgeous deep analogue-sounding house groove

    That'll do for now...

Thanks for the good wishes Nick. The end is in sight hopefully and should be back on Friday. Medical escort flys out from uk tomorrow and should be on a plane adapted for stretcher and home soon. Long ambulance journeys at each end though, but nearly home. The hospitals here soon make you realise the value of the NHS, but that's a thread for another time.

Quite a list there. I won't insult the effort of compilation by listening through my phone but will look forward to hearing them properly on my return. Something to look forward to :)

Back home at my house :)

Can't find a decent link for this so will have to make do with Juno snippet. Hideous price (WTF), but love the tune.

Edit: thought it would go straight to the track but it doesn't, so its track 2 'I can feel it...now'.

Juno snippet again. Just a good groove that skips around, and its endorsed by our Ray! (128 Grooves)

Good remix with a bit of a Prescription vibe. Like the original too.

Like the DWIG. Shall spend a bit more time with it. Sadly for some reason I can't get anything from Soundcloud to play at the moment? Will come back to them.

    Darrell.

Liking these two from the latest Robsoul. Both groove really well, and have good tension for the 'floor.

    and on the flip

This is a little grubbier, and also floats my boat.

Wasn't much around for me this week, but I picked up these two Sound Stream represses which for me are the pick of the recent batch.

    Hope you like.

Not that wild on the original, but this Erol Alkan rework is splendidly epic
