    apologies if this sounds uninformed:

I can't stand that "Grime" sound. the only time I ever even hear of it (living in the USA) is when Wire magazine recommends an album and I give it a listen...like the Sons of Kemet album. Great stuff, but I can't stand that grime/talking-over-the-music ala Roni Size thing that happens. Am I the only one allergic to that sound? I wonder how it became so popular in the UK but didn't export all that well.

Roni Size is drum and bass, man - not grime.
Lowski otoh might be the sort of thing you don't like, but I do :~)

I know. I just meant that monotone talking over the music/not rapping thing that Sons of Kemet and Roni Size both do. Seems to be popular in grime (i could be wrong)

That vocal style is part of grime, but also other genres e.g. hip hop, and Shatspeak.

I only have Your Queen from that list. It sounds a bit compressed on CD to my ears - is the vinyl pressing any better?

Shame it's not on the list. I got it on cd in 1992 and it is still one of my all time favourites. I will have to search for it on vinyl even though the cd sounds amazing.
