1. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

I played my first classical piece of music in 2020 last night and the chosen piece was... the mighty Mahler 3 by Abbado-Lucerne FO :)

A day of the symphonies and concertos of the Finnish composer Rautavaara. Very chilled and preferred to Sibelius perhaps.

I think its what happened if Messiaen met Sibelius and they had a long but inconclusive conversation.

I’d forgotten how beautiful Johann Hummel’s piano concertos are.
Another child prodigy. He lived as a student for a few years with Mozart and later also had Salieri and Haydn as teachers.Enormously popular in his day but his music almost disappeared after his death.Has made something of a comeback in recent years.
    This is a gorgeous recording.

Anyone else enjoying R3's NGA celebration day?

As my interest in BBC TV offerings diminishes towards zero, resentment of the license fee has increased year on year.
But this enlightened programme compensates for a lot.
