1. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

it's now progressed from person saying shocking/inappropriate things at a wedding to that person doing the same at a funeral. i would say it's enough of a step down to forgive a lapse or two in habituation.

it may be hard for some to imagine, but bolsonaro is actually worse than trump. may want to check out this article:

Brazilian church wins court battle to remain open despite coronavirus
Pastor said church would remain open as Bolsonaro dismissed virus as media ‘fantasy’, while Brazil has 654 confirmed cases

"The ruling came days after a prominent bishop from another evangelical church told followers not to worry about the pandemic because the devil was trying to create fear."

note: confirmed cases now at 927 and you can be sure there is not great testing

But Bolsonaro is an example of what Trump would be minus what constraints remain from The Constitution, and checks and balances. Trump's peers are Bolsonaro, Duterte, Orban, Duda/Morawiecki, Erdogan, Netanyahu...

His adoring public will turn on him in the end. Hopefully I t’ll be sudden and brutal. Had it been 40 years ago, in the movie, George C. Scott would have played the general who drove over the Potomac from the Pentagon with an escort to the White House and dispatched the wailing coward within ten minutes. The problem with a film version is that audiences would never be able to suspend disbelief at something remotely resembling Trump in the White House.

One positive that has come out of the coronavirus thing - a coworker from Cincinnati, an ardent Republican who has never voted for anyone else out of an apparent tribal loyalty, has seen the light about Trump and has come to the conclusion that he's an incompetent idiot. I can only hope that she remembers this in November...

A new MAGA movement debate: Is Trump overdoing it?

“More than a month of people actually quarantined will break down civil society. Nobody is used to this, and when the money runs out for people they will get desperate — and there’s not enough money the government can dole out that’ll be enough,” said David Reaboi, vice president for strategic operations at Security Studies Group who writes for The Federalist.

“People will start to panic, then [begin] killing and looting. And we’ll face a society-wide crisis that’s more than simply economic. Absorbing the death of a certain number of people is preferable to that, if those are the options. Amazing and horrible to even think like that, but here we are.”

    genuine fears or "wishful" thinking?

the Federalist is a conservative rag, so I think the author is projecting when he predicts killing and looting. Conservatives have so little faith in their fellow humans.

His performances on the daily briefings (I'm watching tonight's now) are shocking, genuinely shocking. The medication is clear. The narcissism is palpable. Mitt Romney is in isolation. He just openly found that amusing in front of a global audience. The man should be locked up.

One tactic, that he has employed on more than one occasion, is to have a popular Fox News *anchor say something in the morning, then he will Tweet that word for word claiming it as his before repeating it at a press briefing. The "We cannot let the cure be worse than the problem itself" is a classic example of this. I wonder whether this is based on psychological research in all honesty. Things are not always as stupid as they seem to us.

massive difference in perception exist between democratic and republican voters. the way fox has presented the virus news is certainly contributing factor. nice, albeit shocking, report from TYT here:

i think a class action suit by half the american population should be filed against fox.

Do try to watch tonight's briefing in full (maybe CNN). It is genuinely terrifying.

    One quote :

"Without Borders you don't have a nation"

That was one of the more fluent and less frightening phrases. Honestly, it is difficult to understand why no one has simply had him replaced following medical advice to date.
