    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

Not really a quotation, but I remember when I saw Richard Thompson in Manchester in 1987. He was asking the audience for requests, and people were shouting out for songs from his Fairport and Richard and Linda days. He narrowed his eyes, and said “This is a very conservative audience. I hope it’s not an indication of how you’re all going to vote next week.”

About 15 years ago Richard played a small club in Wrexham, where I lived at the time. People were shouting requests...
Richard "Hush, this is being recorded for Radio Wales"
Wag in the audience "That's OK then no-one will hear it!"

Is there anybody here with any Irish in them?
Is there any of the girls who'd like a little more Irish in them?

    Phillip Lynott.

I like the story of when he was asked if it was difficult being black and Irish to which he replied "Well, Guinness is black and Irish, isn't it?"

George Melley. Asking Mick Jagger about his wrinkles. Jagger replied 'laughter lines'.
George: 'surely nothing could be that funny?'

Another example of Richard Thompson’s quick, self-deprecating wit. After a concert, he was signing cds, and a friend of mine asked him if she could take a photo of him. She said “sorry it’s not a very good camera” to which he came back immediately saying “that’s ok, it’s not a very good face.”
